Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former number one, has had a challenging year, managing just one match at the big events and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor Cervara.
Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a tightly fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.
Victory also means the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's defensive strategy and recurring reactions on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and perform assertively, backed up by an improved serving game.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Moutet, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden tour victory, took control to force a third set.
The opponent rescued four early break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to that score to secure the win.
Suitably, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
